The Executioner's Easter Song

Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins 2010 Mandalay Bay, LV

Saint Bernard Hopkins, Philadelphia born middleweight boxing legend, won in an unanimous defeat over Roy Jones Jr. last night in Las Vegas in a super-anticipated grudge match 17 years in the making.

Hopkins is known for his ten year reign as middleweight world champion defending his title a record 20 times. He is the first fighter to retain all 4 major boxing governing body belts including the Ring Magazine belt in the same fight and he is the oldest man to ever hold the middleweight championship in professional boxing.

Hopkins is 45 years old and it's amazing that at that advanced sports age (sports ages are like counting in dog years) he is still kicking butt.

From USA Today
Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones, Jr. have a combined 86 years of age and have 116 pro fights between them. They both have Hall of Fame résumés, and both are Hall of Fame trash-talkers.

Now, 17 years later, Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins, well past their primes, are finally realizing a rematch. The 17-year span between fights is believed to be the second-longest in modern boxing history, behind Larry Holmes-Mike Weaver (1979 and 2000).
