Attention Lord of the Rings fans!
Good news greets The Shire this morning as we find that all of our favorite actors have returned to film The Hobbit!
That means, Elijah Wood (Frodo), Dominic Monaghan (Merry), Cate Blanchett (Galadriel), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Andy Serkis (Gollum) and Sir Ian McKellan (the Wizard Gandalf).
Of course, having actually read The Hobbit we have no idea why Elijah Wood's Frodo or Monaghan's Merry would be involved. Even though they are "hobbits" and the film is entitled The Hobbit, the book was about Frodo's Uncle Bilbo, the discovery of the one ring of power, the Battle of the Five Armies and the slaying of Smaug the Dragon.
Oh well, maybe they can invent a role for Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn and bring him back too!
Christopher Lee has been asked to reprise his role of the Wizard Saruman, but no word yet on whether or not he'll return.
We're not crazy about Orlando Bloom. His acting is poor to say the least and he is about as exciting as watching grass grow. To top it off, he'll be getting about $1M to make a cameo in the film comprising of about, oh 2 minutes! He's overrated and overpaid in our opinion. Well, at least we only have to suffer him for 2 minutes.
Bring back Viggo! We could watch him all day!
Filming is set to begin Feb. 14th in New Zealand. We're glad that Peter Jackson is back as director. The Hobbit will be a two part movie - that means at least 7 to 9 hours in Peter Jackson's world. Yay!
