Former tennis #1 seed and French Open Champ Carlos Moya retired from the game yesterday.
Carlos hails from Mallorca (may-orca), that little island off the coast of Spain that also spawned the greatest tennis player in history - Rafael Nadal. In fact, Moya was Rafa's early training partner and fellow member of the winning Davis Cup team in 2004.
Moya won 20 ATP titles, including the 1998 French Open. He was also awesome in the Olympics. He has been plagued by injuries in recent years and has to retire.
We will miss him on the court. We loved watching him play. And of course, just watching him. In 1999 People magazine chose him as one of the World's 50 Most Handsome Men. We couldn't agree more.
