We wish that Pope Benedict would get up on Easter morning and do The Right Thing. He needs to announce the sacking of the too-many-to-count pedophile priests and swear to cherish his flock and not the shepherds. Literally, he should say Mass and during the Homily, defrock the priests, announce a renewed vow to God and Jesus that the Catholic Church will not tolerate abuse of children, nor will it continue to ignore the wishes of it's parishioners.
This will not happen for two reasons:
1) The parishioners don't care enough to stand up in Church and decry what has happened. If they did, this issue might have been settled decades ago. For some reason, Catholics hero-worship Priests, Bishops, Arch-Bishops and Popes.
2) Although 95% of priests are decent, honorable, kind, gentlemen who genuinely not only want to serve The Lord but His People too, they are ruining everything by not speaking up! Why do they themselves allow Vatican policy to tolerate pedophiles?
Note to Catholics regarding point #1: You are supposed to only worship GOD and JESUS. Whoever told you about Papal Infallibility and whatever made you venerate and worships priests WAS WRONG. They are men and they are doing a job. The Catholic Church is run by businessmen. It is a BUSINESS First and a Religion Second. Not sure about that? Adamant against it? Then why in the middle of Mass do they collect money? Didn't Jesus have a problem with money being interwoven with churches and temples? Shouldn't you, then?
Not enough parishioners have written the Pope a letter, sent him an email or faxed him your thoughts on the subject. Do you want a sex offender, parading around as a priest, to be transferred from church to church to abuse new kids at every turn? Do you want to return to the church or to be happy about it again? Do you want this black cloud hanging over it forever?
Try writing this:
Dear Pope Benedict, Although I've been a faithful parishioner for the last 40 years, I am no longer donating money to the Church until you have FIRED -not retired - but DEFROCKED all pedophile priests. I do not want my money paying off Vatican lawyers. Thank you, John Q.

We want all of our Catholic friends to know that we don't hate the Church. We hate the fraternity cover-your-brothers-ass-no-matter-what mentality. In our world, in the REAL world, you touch a kid, police get called in. End.Of.Story. You touch a kid and you're done, brotha.
STAND UP and SAY SOMETHING. The Church will continue to laugh at you, blame the media, blame gay people and make sure everyone knows that The Pope is above the law and that he and the church pedophiles and pedophile sympathizers can do whatever they want with your children, until you say enough is enough!
