Goodnight, Marat...

It's over. Marat Safin is hanging up his tennis racket following his last career match ever. He lost against giant Juan Del Potro in the Paris Masters today. There was a great ceremony beforehand that celebrated his career and 3 tournament wins there in the past, but now it is over.

Marat did weigh in on the Andre Agassi crystal meth admission the other day, telling Andre that he "is stupid" and "should shut the hell up." Marat also said that Andre should give back his winnings and titles as he is undeserving as he was a meth addict at that time. Marat isn't known for holding back. As far as we know, he is the only tennis player to come forward and berate Andre for poor behavior. Pot...Meet...Kettle.

We will miss every single thing there was about Marat Safin. His gorgeous looks, his great game, the sound of his serves booming around the stadiums, his rants and raves, his breakdowns and Russian cursing. And did we mention his looks? He's been the cover boy for Euro GQ and other mags for years.

Everything changes, so we look forward to the next generation of players. Hopefully, they'll have the same spark as our old faves: Becker, Conner, McEnroe,Lendl....and Safin.
