Cruel conditions and relentless intrusive procedures on chimps and apes DO NOT SAVE LIVES. You will, not ever, find groups of children or anyone that are alive today because of these atrocious acts perpetrated on animals. The ends do not justify the means.

To argue that this will endanger people because we need the animals to do live experiments and vivisections on is ludicrous, uninformed and really just plain ignorant. Do the research yourselves if you don't want to believe us. But we will ask you now, where are the cured people, the saved children from all these years of research? Nowhere.

Total Eclipse of the Moon

Most of the World was treated to an

It was a beautiful sight if you were lucky enough to see it live. The lunar eclipse turned the moon red before erasing it briefly from sight. The phenomenon, in which the Earth passes between the sun and moon, won't occur for another two years.

Marie Curie


Marie Sklodowska Curie, one of the greatest, most brilliant scientists of all time, was born this day, November 7th 1867, in Warsaw, Poland. She was the daughter of a mathematician who also taught her physics.

In 1891 Marie began studying at the prestigious Sorbonne in Paris, France in multiple disciplines: physics, chemistry and mathematics. She earned her physics degree in 1893 and her math degree in 1894.

That was the year she met Pierre Curie. Also a physicist, they shared a love of each other and science, marrying and working together for years until his untimely death in 1906.

They published a paper together in 1898 detailing the discovery of a new element, Polonium, that Marie named after her country of birth, Poland. That year they announced another discovery - the element radium.

Marie coined the term radioactivity at this time.

Pierre and Marie shared the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics for their research into "the radiation phenomenon." Marie Curie became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize.

In 1911, The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Marie in recognition for the elements radium and polonium and her work in radioactivity.

She thus became the first woman to ever win 2 Nobel prizes and in two different disciplines!

Standards of the day paled ( as in non-existent) to modern protocol and Marie often carried around radioactive isotopes "in her pocket." Just like Homer Simpson. This directly contributed to her death in 1934.

Her lab and materials - even her kitchen cookbook! - are all super-contaminated to this day. Her lab notes, materials, everything is kept in lead lined containers and can only be opened under special circumstances with haz mat suits.

Marie Curie's contribution to modern science is incalculable. The barriers she faced as a woman and overcame are incredible. You can count on one hand all the women were earning masters degrees in physics in the 1800's.

She was the first female professor at the University of Paris. She is and will always be an icon to the scientific community and to women everywhere. She is the most famous and celebrated female scientist that ever lived.

In 2009, Marie Curie was voted as "The Most Inspirational Woman in Science."

Marie and Pierre are now interred at the Paris Pantheon, and of course, she is the first and only woman to be buried there.

The Curie (symbol Ci), a unit of radioactivity, is named in her and/or Pierre's honour.

Three radioactive minerals are named after the Curies.

Skłodowska-Curie's likeness appeared on the Polish late-1980s 20,000banknote.
Her likeness has also appeared on stamps and coins, and on the last French 500 franc note.

Marie Curie was voted the "Most inspirational woman in science" in a 2009 poll carried out by New Scientist magazine on behalf of the UNESCO 'For Women In Science' programme.

Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, founded in 1944;
Maria Skłodowska–Curie Institute of Oncology, in Warsaw.

French institutions named after Maria Skłodowska–Curie include:
Pierre and Marie Curie University, the largest science, technology and medicine university in France.

In 2007, the Pierre Curie Metro station was renamed the "Pierre et Marie Curie" station.

Unbelievably, not only did Marie and Pierre win Nobel Prizes but their daughter Irene, and son-in-law Frédéric Joliot-Curie won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1935, for discovering artificial radioactivity.

Top Mystery Spots

Known as mystery spots or gravity hills, these are places in nature where the laws of physics do not apply as we currently understand them.

In these places, cars roll backwards uphill, brooms stand on end and people are able to balance themselves on a chair 3 feet off the ground perched on a one inch ledge. Amazing stuff.

We went to the Michigan Mystery Spot and witnessed this crazy phenomena for ourselves. Members of our party reported feeling lightheaded and sick afterwards.

We also went to the gravity hill in Moncton, Canada and were in the car when we put it in neutral and took a backwards ride up a hill.

Now, whether or not it's just optical illusion isn't the point. It's pretty awesome to experience it either way.

And, just for the record, some of these places ARE NOT illusions. Even the trees grow in weird, bent unnatural angles. There is definitely a weird force at work.

Live Long and Prosper - Happy Birthday Star Trek!

Space: the final frontier.
These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission:
to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations,

Guess what premiered 45 years ago today - Sept. 8, 1966? Yup, STAR TREK.

THANK YOU GENE RODDENBERRY. You were a true visionary putting Asian, Russian and black men and women on the Bridge of the USS Enterprise. You influenced millions of people to do better, to strive to work together and make Earth a better place. It hasn't worked out very well, but for a TV show, it did a pretty good job at bringing people together.

As unabashed Trekkies, (we will NEVER be Trekkers) we want to wish our favorite franchise EVER a happy 45th!

With the exception of just one other show (Highlander), no TV/Movie series/franchise has ever given us such pleasure, joy and fun.

We love the original series and their movies the most but The Next Generation show comes in a veryclosesecond. It's hard to believe that Star Trek is 45 years old and even harder to believe TNG is over 20.

As far as the original series goes, we'll always have The City on the Edge of Forever. Many of the original series were penned by BIG NAME real sci-fi writers. "In 1968, Star Trek's most critically acclaimed episode, "The City on the Edge of Forever," written by Harlan Ellison, won the prestigious Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Teleplay."

"And those are the days worth living for..."



Star Trek has influenced the world for the better in every way. Today, even our flip style cell phones are exactly like Kirk's communicators. Star Trek quotes are part and parcel of pop culture. Even bushmen in Zimbabwe know to have Scotty beam them up.

We've loved every minute of it and look forward to another 45 years!

As 'ole Doc McCoy would say, "Hey Jim-boy, y'all ever have a real cold, Georgia-style mint julep, huh?"
Huh? NO, wait.
Not that one...this one..."You treat her (the Enterprise) like a lady, and she'll always bring you home."

Oceanic Anomaly Has UFOlogists Abuzz

On June 19m 2011 the Swedish team Ocean Explorers discovered something weird on the ocean floor between Finland and Sweden in the Gulf of Bothnia.

Peter Lindberg's team was looking for a shipwreck containing a consignment of 1907 Heidsick Monopole Gout Americain Champagne (very rare) worth $13,000 a piece to collectors.

Instead of the ship, Jonkoping, what they found has Internet Ufologists talking alien submerged spaceships.

"At 87m down, between Sweden and Finland, they saw a large circle, about 60 feet in diameter," he told local media last week.

"You see a lot of weird stuff in this job but during my 18 years as a professional I have never seen anything like this.

"The shape is completely round … a circle."

Mr Lindberg said the team has also noted what they say could possibly be tracks running some 300m up to where the disc lies.

The team claims the tracks show the object has moved, either on or since settling to the ocean floor.


His team refuses to dive to it...after all they were looking for sunken ships and champagne...and no one wants to spend the money to dive to what may be a natural formation.

So it's up to the world. Maybe Richard Branson or James Cameron would fund a dive to it. After all, it may be natural but if it isn't...

VIMANA FOUND!!???!!


It's being reported on independent news sites that an ancient East Indian Vimana has been found in a cave in Afghanistan!

Vimanas are the source for the mystical ancient Persian flying carpet. It is a vehicle that flies. Detailed schematics have been pieced together from the ancient Sanskrit epic The Mahabharata, which accounts four different types of these machines. Reading the Mahabharata is like reading the most wild of science fictio and it was penned thousands of years ago.

"A peculiar report prepared for Prime Minister Putin by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) circulating in the Kremlin today states that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has become the latest in a growing line of Western leaders to make a ‘surprise’ visit to Afghanistan this month and follows visits by United States President Obama (December 3rd), British Prime Minister David Cameron (December 7th) and French President Nicolas Sarkozy (December 8th).

Only Sarkozy’s trip, this report says, was concealed as he was already in India on a state visit when ‘rushed’ by a US Military aircraft to the Afghan war zone.

What caused the sudden rush of these most powerful leaders of the Western World to go to Afghanistan, this report continues, was to directly view the discovery by US Military scientists of what is described as a “Vimana” entrapped in a “Time Well” that has already caused the “disappearance” of at least 8 American Soldiers trying to remove it from the cave it has been hidden in for the past estimated 5,000 years"

This story is probably a hoax, but the general content is not. Vimanas exsisted at one point in ancient history. We're not sure about the whole "time well" thing, though. ALTHOUGH, this would account for a US military incursion into Afghanistan the past 8 or 10 years. Hmmm....

Remembering Challenger...25 Years Later

Twenty-five years ago today, January 28, 1986, we watched in horror and rapt fascination as the Spaceshuttle Challenger lifted off into the clear blue sky and promptly blew itself up into columns of smoke.

All seven crew members were lost when it exploded a scant 73 seconds after launch. Included was the first teacher to go into space, Christa McAuliffe, making this a particularly tragic moment as her entire school was watching and cheering her on.

The Challenger Spaceshuttle was officially commissioned on April 4, 1983, when it made its maiden flight. It had flown successfully nine times before and this would have been it tenth mission. In the years 1983 and 1984, Challenger flew 85% of all Space Shuttle missions becoming known as NASA's workhorse.

It's hard to believe that this now iconic image is 25 years old. The official cause of the explosion was an O-ring failure. Ominously, this mission was delayed over seven times and for a period of days, as one thing after another went wrong. Bad weather, problems with a hatch, delays with a previous spaceshuttle mission...you name it and it cropped up and put Challenger on delay day after day.

Mysteries of the Mind

The Human Brain is one of the most mysterious, wondrous and miraculous things in the known Universe.

In fact, our brain cells LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE KNOWN UNIVERSE.

Here's a picture to prove it:


The human brain contains 100 billion brain cells called neurons. According to the picture above, it seems we all carry about 100 billion miniature Universe's inside each of own heads. "The Body is a Temple", "God is Within", "Use Your Brain" kind of all make sense now. Or as the 14th Buddha of Compassion, commonly known as the Dalai Lama, would say: "There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness."

There are so many fascinating facts about the brain that we cannot encompass them all in this post.

It has been reported that a Croatian teenager studying German at school fell into a coma (blood poisoning) and awoke 24 hours later unable to speak her native language at all and instead speaks only fluent German. 2 days previously she could barely manage "Hi. My name is" in German and now she communicates perfectly in it. In fact, doctors at the hospital had to bring in a translator to speak with her because everyone at the hospital speaks Croatian!

"Hospital director Dujomir Marasovic said: "You never know when recovering from such a trauma how the brain will react."

Psychiatric expert Dr Mijo Milas added: "In earlier times this would have been referred to as a miracle, we prefer to think that there must be a logical explanation – its just that we haven't found it yet."


This kind of thing has happened before and is called "Foreign Accent Syndrome." This has been documented in over 60 cases between 1941 and 2009. As recently as 2006 an English woman awoke from a coma with a distinctly Jamaican accent.

Again, another "version" of this phenomena is called Xenoglossy. This is where a person without any prior exposure to the foreign language in question wakes up and can speak it fluently. Typically, the languages spoken here are ancient Biblical ones, leading to speculation of reincarnation.

It is a myth that we only use 10% of our brains. In fact the brain represents 3% of our total body weight and yet consumes 20% of our body's energy. It is when we are resting that the 10% comes into play. No pun intended.

Typically, the average human uses every part of the brain at times for certain things.

What's not understood is how clusters of neurons from the diverse regions of the brain collaborate to form consciousness. The 100 billion neurons in the brain comprise only 10% of all brain matter with the other 90% percent of brain matter, called glial cells, encapsulating and supporting the neurons.

"Albert Einstein's brain possessed a greater number of glial cells for each neurone, suggesting his brain needed and used more energy. As a result it may have generated more processing ability. The job of glial cells is to provide support and protection for neurones."

Ancient brain surgery dates back to 3,000 BC with the Ancient Egyptians performing a procedure called trepanning, where a tiny hole is drilled into the head. This procedure is practiced today with groups of people swearing that it enhances brain performance. We think we need that like we need a hole in the head.

Michelangelo, the great artist and sculptor, painted on the Sistine Chapel a perfect replica of the human brain. You have all seen it and might not have known. It is by far his most famous fresco, known as the Hand of God:

R.I.P. - Zecharia Sitchin

The Omni Report is in mourning today after learning of the passing of the iconoclast author, Zecharia Sitchin.

Sitchin launched to fame in the 1970's with his ground-breaking work, The 12th Planet. This led to the Earth Chronicles series - a must read for alternative history fans - such as ourselves.

Compared to Erich Von Daniken as far as subject matter, Sitchin employed his knowledge of ancient languages to redefine ancient Mesopotamian texts and bring forth new translations of the Sumerian, Assyrian and Babylonian cultures and God pantheons.

His work is seminal, beyond ground-breaking. He will be missed immensely.

Sitchin passed away at age 90 in NYC on October 9th. His family is just releasing the news as they wanted it to remain private.

We are at a total loss for words at his point and will release a posthumous tribute post later in the week.

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's ANOTHER Wave of UFO's

For those of us who have personally witnessed Unexplained Flying Objects, some of us MULTIPLE times, this recent super-rash of UFO sightings is nothing new.

For those of you who don't bother to look up because you KNOW better, there are rational explanations for all of this. The Balloon and Flock of Birds Theories works really well on you folks. That's awesome!

The past week has seen a spike in the number of reported UFO's hovering over MAJOR U.S. Cities. New York, El Paso, Richmond to name a few domestic spots.

A Chinese airport was shut down internationally for an Unidentified Flying Object freaking out pilots over there. Actually, it was the 9th sighting of a UFO over a Chinese airport in about 3 months.

Just a few week ago, six former Air Force personnel disclosed dramatic first-hand experiences with UFOs at nuclear weapons sites.
LET'S RETYPE THAT AND PLEASE ALLOW IT TO SINK IN...

R.I.P - Benoit Mandelbrot

Fractals. They are one of nature's most beautiful mysteries.

Benoit Mandelbrot, the French mathematician, was The Father of Fractals, for he coined the term and researched fractals as his life work. He died last week at the age of 85.

The above fractal is named for him. Nobel prizes aren't awarded posthumously, so we are saddened that he wasn't even nominated for one.

His seminal works, Fractals: Form, Chance and Dimension and The Fractal Geometry of Nature, were published in 1977 and 1982. In these, he argued that seemingly random mathematical shapes in fact followed a pattern if broken down into a single repeating shape. Mandelbrot developed fractals and the concept has been used to measure coastlines, clouds and other natural phenomena and had far-reaching effects in physics, biology and astronomy.

In words of praise from Nicholas Sarkozy, French President: "(Mandelbrot has a) powerful, original mind that never shied away from innovation and battering preconceived ideas. His work, which was entirely developed outside the main research channels, led to a modern information theory."

Honestly? For all of the "good science" that fractals can do, it is the ART of the fractal that spellbinds us.

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's....Uranus, Jupiter and the Harvest Moon!


Sky watchers Celebrate! There are several super-duper celestial events happening tonight and tomorrow, including the Autumnal Equinox this evening at 11:09 EST.

"Check out the eastern sky just after sunset tomorrow (Sept. 22), and you'll catch a sky watching treat. The nearly full moon will be rising just above the bright planet Jupiter and a somewhat dimmer Uranus.

You'll need binoculars if you hope to spot Uranus — it appears as a tiny bluish speck, too dim for the naked eye. So the coming celestial lineup is an excellent time to find that planet with binoculars or a small telescope, using Jupiter as a helpful guidepost.

Sky watching marathon
Several astronomical events happen in rapid succession this week, offering a celestial show for observers graced with clear skies. The times indicated here are for eastern North America and may vary a little if you’re elsewhere in the world:

•Today (Sept. 21) at 8 p.m. EDT, Jupiter is in opposition. This means that Jupiter will be exactly opposite the sun in Earth’s sky. This also means that Jupiter will be visible the entire night. (Yesterday — Sept. 20 — Jupiter made its closest approach to Earth in nearly 50 years.)

•Five hours later, at 1 a.m. tomorrow (Sept. 22), Uranus will be in opposition, taking its turn opposite the sun in the sky.

•Later tomorrow at 3 p.m., Jupiter and Uranus will be in conjunction, less than 1 degree apart in the sky. They won’t be visible right then in North America because they will be below the horizon, but they will still be close together when they rise just after sunset. You will be able to see both planets at the same time in the field of a small telescope at low magnification.

•The show continues tomorrow night at 11:09 p.m. EDT (Sept. 23), when the sun crosses the celestial equator — a projection of Earth's equator on the sky — and enters the southern hemisphere. This is known as the equinox, meaning "equal nights." Daytime and nighttime are of equal length, about 12 hours, everywhere on Earth. (Of course, the sun won’t be visible at this time in North America, being on the other side of the planet.)

•Finally, at 5:17 a.m. EDT, Thursday, the full moon of September will occur, since the moon will be exactly opposite the sun in the sky. This is a special full moon: It is the full moon closest to the equinox, known as the harvest moon. "


So cue the Neil Young "Harvest Moon" CD and get ready to experience some serious celestial activity.

The End of an Era

Goodbye Discovery Space Shuttle. Goodbye ALL space shuttles. Discovery will launch it's final journey on November 1. After that the shuttle Endeavour will launch its final run in February 2011 and then...no more...

After Endeavours final flight there will never be another space shuttle launch ever. So sad.

Discovery was the most used shuttle - a beloved workhorse of the NASA space program. Whether you believed we landed on the moon or not is irrelevant at this point as far as the shuttle program goes. The shuttle program when it first began heralded a new space age. No more obsolete rocket ships, no more touch and go splashdowns.

The Obama administration is unsure where to take NASA in the future and this article will in no way address the shortcomings and evil nature of the NASA program. It will only lament the end of an unfulfilled and hopeful era...

Nikola Tesla


The great scientist and genius, Nikola Tesla, would have been 154 years old today.

Tesla invented practically everything we take for granted today in modern technological society and indeed had a plan to give free electricity to the entire world. We always liked him because he was the underdog and was totally ripped off. Edison, Marconi, Westinghouse, Morgan - they all took advantage and Tesla died a pauper. A fucking pauper. It's a travesty.

Nikola Tesla was an inventor, mechanical engineer, and electrical engineer. He was an important contributor to the birth of commercial electricity, and is best known for his many revolutionary developments in the field of electromagnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tesla's patents and theoretical work formed the basis of modern alternating current (AC) electric power systems, including the polyphase system of electrical distribution and the AC motor, which helped usher in the Second Industrial Revolution.

After his demonstration of wireless communication through radio in 1894 and after being the victor in the "War of Currents", he was widely respected as one of the greatest electrical engineers who worked in America. Much of his early work pioneered modern electrical engineering and many of his discoveries were of groundbreaking importance. During this period, in the United States, Tesla's fame rivaled that of any other inventor or scientist in history or popular culture.

The International System of Units unit measuring magnetic field B (also referred to as the magnetic flux density and magnetic induction), the tesla, was named in his honor (at the Conférence Générale des Poids et Mesures, Paris, 1960), as well as the Tesla effect of wireless energy transfer to wireless powered electronic devices (which Tesla demonstrated on a low scale with incandescent light bulbs as early as 1893 and aspired to use for the intercontinental transmission of industrial power levels in his unfinished Wardenclyffe Tower project).

Aside from his work on electromagnetism and electromechanical engineering, Tesla contributed in varying degrees to the establishment of robotics, remote control, radar, and computer science, and to the expansion of ballistics, nuclear physics, and theoretical physics.

Nessie and Noah's Ark

2 legends confirmed to exist in 1 day!

After all these years, over 4,000, to be exact, Noah's Ark is said to have been discovered. Teams of Chinese and Turkish EVANGELICAL explorers have announced the discovery, applied for World Heritage protection and released pics of the ship high up on Mount Ararat in Turkey. You never know.

AND, in The-Ever-Continuous-Search-for-the-Loch Ness Monster-News Scotland has released it's "Blue Book" on Nessie encounters and a letter written in the 1930's by the local Police Chief states, "That there is some strange creature in Loch Ness now seems beyond doubt. But that the police have any power to protect it is very doubtful."

There you have it. Proof!
