Indian Wells: That's No Djok

What a GREAT tennis weekend it was!

Saturday's men's semifinals at Indian Wells saw Rafael Nadal vs. Juan Del Potro and then Novak Djokovich vs. Roger Federer. You can't get any better than that!

Nadal made it to the final, but to give Big Del Po some credit, he is WELL on the road to recovery and come back. Even to make it to the semi's was a great step. We're hoping good things for him at Wimbledon this year.

Rafa usually uses Indian Wells as a tune up for the French and he looked great as well. He was jumping all around and seemed back to normal after the horrible injury he suffered in the finals of the Australian Open a couple of months ago.

Novak vs. Roger was amazing. Novac has got his number and once AGAIN beat him to make it to the finals. This was the THIRD CONSECUTIVE time Djokovic has beaten Roger in match - something that would have been unheard of just a few years ago. Roger is not over, but he is definitely feeling his age and he isn't unbeatable anymore. He's not even #1. And he held that position for like 4 years straight at one point.

With that win in the semi's over Roger, Novak's ranking went up to #2. He has CLEARLY come into his own and is seemingly unstoppable right now.

On to the finals on Sunday with a delicious main course of Rafael Nadal vs. Novak Djokovich. Indian Wells tournament plays best of 3 not 5 (which is our preferred format). NOVAK DJOKOVICH IN THREE! NOLE! NOLE! NOLE! NOLE! Nadal did decisively win the second set. The third was almost a toss up and then Novak took it! He then called Rafa the "best player in the world." Awww...who doesn't love Rafa? Look for Nadal to come out with all guns blazing for the French Open.

Novak is ON A ROLL! With this win he is 18 and 0 for 2011. He is not only playing the best tennis of his life right now, he is just playing the best tennis on the tour. CAUTION: In 2008 Novac ALSO won the Aussie Open AND Indian Wells and DID NOT WIN a damn thing after that. Let's hope history does NOT repeat. With the way he is playing right now, we doubt he would falter that badly. He'll at least make some finals rounds.

On the women's side our beloved darling Caroline Wozniaki beat the hell out of that bitch Maria Sharapova to make it to the finals where she then won over Marion Bertoli. Caroline is world's #1 and hasn't won a major yet, but this Indian Wells final is her highest/best win yet. Look for her to continue to dominate this season.

All in all, this years Indian Wells tourney was pretty awesome!

Novak Djokovich with another win!

Read this great article on how Novak proves that the machine known as Rafa is really flesh and blood and shows the world how to exploit a possible weakness in Rafa's game and make it possible to beat him again and again.
