We're Number 3!

Limerick Power Plant.
We see these plumes easily EVERY DAY OF OUR LIFE

Residents of Philadelphia and its suburbs number in the millions. And did any of you know that we were number 3?

Three in what, you ask?

NUMBER THREE AT RISK FOR A CORE MELTDOWN AT THE LIMERICK NUCLEAR PLANT. RANKED #3 IN RISK BY THE NRC (U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission).

The risk of an earthquake hitting this region has gone up 141% since 1989 geological data was updated in 2008.

As a matter of fact, Pennsylvania has 3 nuclear power plants in the Top 10 MOST AT RISK of ALL United States power plants. See? We're 3 again!

3) Limerick, Limerick, PA - 34 miles away from Philadelphia and it's 5.4 million inhabitants. We are the 5th largest most populous region in the Country.

5) Beaver Valley, Shippingport, PA - 34 miles away from Pittsburgh and it's 2.3 million inhabitants. The second largest population in PA. The risk here has gone up 269%.

10) Three Mile Island, Middletown, PA - 10 miles from Harrisburg, the Capital of Pennsylvania. Population: half a million people. It's 311 miles from Pittsburgh and 102 miles from Philadelphia. The risk from this plant has gone up 82%.

We're not even talking human or mechanical error which can cause a meltdown event at any time regardless of natural disaster. Mechanical error is what caused the partial core meltdown at Three Mile Island in 1979, but was compounded by human error as operators failed to realize the initial problem.
