Rutger Hauer

One of our favorite actors, EVER, Rutger Hauer, has gotten old. Really, really old. He just turned 67 in January and looks 167.

Where did the last 30 years go?

Rutger has starred in over 50 movies and some of them the best movies ever made including Ladyhawke, Blade Runner, The Hitcher and Batman Begins. He will steal any scene in any movie with his intensity. He's a GREAT ACTOR.

Ladyhawke...a great movie

Off the big screen, he's an awesome person too.

"Hauer is a dedicated environmentalist. He fought for the release of Greenpeace's co-founder, Paul Watson, who was convicted in 1994 for sinking a Norwegian whaling vessel. Hauer has also established an AIDS awareness foundation called the Rutger Hauer Starfish Foundation." Paul Watson as many of you know now runs The Sea Shepards.

A Dutch native, in 1999 he was awarded the Dutch “Best Actor of the Century Rembrandt Award”. He should have gotten at least 3 Academy Awards anyway. So overlooked!

He's kind of in the news today as it was announced he will be the new Van Helsing in Dario Argenta's Dracula 3D. Good lord! 30 years ago that would have been a Godsend, but now...

Also, they just announced there will be either a prequel or a sequel to the movie Blade Runner. Absolutely one of the best sci-fi films ever made.

Here is Rutger Hauer as Roy the Replicant in the ICONIC scene from Blade Runner. AWESOME Film making at its best.

Rutger Hauer is now even older! He's 74 and a real and proper actor. Sure he looks older but we can't stay thirty all our lives. He's still handsome and has a cheeky glint in his rare blue eyes. I LOVE the Hitcher, best 80s flick along with Bladerunner!
