Scientists seem startled to discover that chimpanzees mourn their dead. We have always believed that mankind is the only true "animal" on the planet and that wildlife have emotions, intelligence, speech and communications that are far above our meager capabilities to understand. The expression "dumb as an animal" is a joke and is quite frankly offensive.
So, enter this video shot very recently at Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage in Zambia, Africa. For the first time caught on film, it shows a mother chimp coming to grips with the death of her 16 month old infant.
